Part of Campfire Notebook’s format is a monthly poetry feature. As I continue to work on new poetry submissions offline, I still want to share examples of my work with you. These are poems created purposefully each month to share around the Campfire.
Emerging
long legs took root:
this untamed carrot teen,
all sunburnt saffron sugar,
draped in lace and longing —
longing to leave behind
tender ferns, tender hearts.
stretched down deep
to seek her ancestors’ words,
she pulls at the sky —
to reach for the stars
(the last known address
of her wishes).
