I love this. I had a design teacher who said a room doesn't have to be clean, just that everything (things on the floor, things on the coffee table) needs to be "parallel and perpendicular", which I realize now is just knolling.
well, I don't know if this counts, but I arrange all the dishes, crockery etc by size, shape and type before putting it all in the dishwasher. I find that much quicker overall than just putting it in the dishwasher straight away. Is that knolling?
I've heard of something similar before but for some reason I thought it was called something else besides knolling. This idea also reminds me of flat "runners", who lay out their gear in preparation for the next day's race.
Oh this is so interesting ! I didn’t know knolling was called knolling but I love the aesthetic aspect of it. As someone who enjoys things that are super aesthetically pleasing , I can see how this would really satisfy certain human brains.
Wow, great post, Bryn! I'd never heard of knolling. And I love that your plant has a name badge... and that he's called Robert!
Edited 2 minutes later to say that although I've just got into bed (it's 9.45pm here) I'm tempted to get UP again in order to knoll my pens, notebooks and reference material in preparation for tomorrow's writing session. See what you've started......?!!!! 👀
Pink Floyd did it on the back cover of their "Ummagumma" album, displaying the entirety of the band's musical equipment: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f0/5d/c4/f05dc45fd66f6d5de7be441d7f5dc70e.jpg
Very cool, thanks for sharing! (Where’s the pig?)

As the articles I read say, “Always Be Knolling”. Maybe I should tell my stepson this 😂

I think it is, Terry! I might have to try it and see if it works for me ☺️
I do this, too. Glad to find someone else who understands how much easier it makes the task!
Fantastic! I was starting to think I was a bit odd!

Love this idea!
I’ve done that for races and for tailgating. I wish I was together enough to do it for work clothes 😅
I've done that too - before the races I did I'd lay out all my gear and diabetes gadgetry to show my charity donors what I was all about!

Love the post. Not what I was expecting to read and I love it for that.
You might have just inspired me to have a go at this.
I'm so happy to have learned this term! I love design hacks that make things look more orderly. Also: your work supplies are adorable!

It’s better in the morning after a cuppa ☺️ And Robert holds a place of honour on my desk 🌱
Knolling duly waited for this morning! And yay Robert!
Very interesting - there must be some sort of a feng shui benefit going on, too. I definitely need to knoll my desk right now!
