I love this refrain, Bryn!😊….like that story….I think it was JFK who asked a man at NASA what his role was there. He said he was helping to put a man on the moon. He was a janitor. All in perspective…what a way your coaches helped foster that for track training! And, so much more of a life skill than some things we were taught in school!
I love that response on behalf of the janitor - that’s amazing perspective! I find it helpful to remind myself of not needing to solve the world’s problems; it’s so conducive to anxiety and burnout. (I imagine many of the women you counsel have found themselves feeling similar before seeking support?)
This was so timely for me! I've been thinking about how I was part of a system for so long, and it broke me - but also maybe I'm better served advocating outside of the system than inside of it. Maybe my job is to change a different system. And maybe the work I left behind in one system changed a few people who can move it forward, a shared mission.
I know exactly what you mean. It broke me, too. It might break me again, and that scares me. Hopefully this time, though, will be different. And I think we all underestimate the impact we have on others that seems so small to us or at the time, but it was a meaningful brick in a path that led to something bigger.

"The credit belongs to the man (or woman) in the arena." T Roosevelt
I hear you Bryn; we gotta step in!
We don’t have to solve all the problems, just a piece💪🏻
