I love your little bird sketches. They’d make a cool fridge magnet.

Great story. I like the “noise of nature” the best in the whole wide world.

Thanks, Tinabeth! It’s really quite something to hear how much we miss from all our urban noise.

Such lovely words, bird art and photographs, Bryn! Absolutely beautiful.

Your Common Gallinule is called a moorhen around here. They're lovely, with their insistent calls and their constantly flicking-up tails. They're on most ponds and lakes around here - quite shy, though. Their babies are adorable - tiny balls of black fluff with funny little faces!

A lovely post. I'm ever so behind on my reading, but having a super time catching up! 😊

I like the name “moorhen” much better than the name we have here. This fella was quite shy, and sadly no babies around when we visited - because little black puffballs sound so adorable!

(Appreciate you checking out the posts - I have a similar backlog but will get sorted now that I’m back from your neck of the woods 😅)

I’d got behind, and then I was saving them up for a bulk-reading treat, which I absolutely loved!

Hope you had a terrific time on our little island - I reckon up there in Scotland you were about 400-500 miles away from my bottom-right-hand corner of England!
