Sugar sack pants sound like they're related to the old flour sack dresses...

Oh interesting! I just emerged from a rabbit hole on flour sack dresses (the patterns boggle the mind!) The sugar sacks weren’t as pretty so I guess that’s when the tie-dying came into play.
